Car stopped accelerating

Post Body

Hello, about a week ago (last Tuesday), I got onto the highway where the speed limit is 70 mph, so I started accelerating to get up from around 50. However, when I pressed on the pedal, my car (2012 Volkswagen Jetta) would no longer accelerate and it started slowing down to around 30-40 mph. I pulled over onto the side of the road, and my check engine light was a solid yellow. I turned the car off and turned it back on, and the light was still on and I couldn’t get past the 30-40 mph range that I said before. What makes the situation strange is that we took the car to 2 different mechanics and they both said that there was nothing wrong with the car, it was working fine when we got it back from the first mechanic. We’re on our way to pick it up from the second guy, and I just wanted to know if anyone had ideas about what happened to my car, and if you think it’s safe to drive. I’m a college student and I have a 45 minute commute Monday-Thursday every week.
