Hey yall, so I'm changing the valve lifters on my old '88 Mazda b2200, and this is the first time I've ever messed with my timing belt. Admittedly, it's not a bit of the motor that I know a ton about, other than it's basic function. If anyone has any bits of wisdom to drop on considerations in removing reinstalling it, things to consider, etc., all the info I can sponge up would be very appreciated.
Additional context: I've marked the exact position of the belt on the camshaft pully before taking it off, and because I only need to remove the one I've left the belt on all the other pulleys lower on the circuit. Im planning to re-install the pulley in the exact position it was in when I took it off (TDC) and replace the belt the same way, but I can't find anything in the ol' Haynes Bible about the proper tension the belt should have. My FE engine is non-enterference, which, to my knowledge, means that a timing belt discrepancy shouldn't be catastrophic? but what should I expect from a bad re-installation?
Cheers, friends!
