LET ME KNOW IF IM WRONG:
If I need ACA healthcare and I'm okay with paying around $200-300 for a PPO that allows you to choose doctors, you will want to go through Covered California, right?
Becuase when I went through Covered California's native website I was told my ID wasn't valid. I called them and after 40 mins they told me I had to talk to an insurance agent to fix the problem. They sent me 8 numbers, 7 of which weren't in service, and in all it took me 1 WHOLE WEEK to finally get to speak to someone who could help. In the end we called Covered California BACK and they told us I needed Medi-Cal instead of Covered California, which is the basic Kaiser HMO plan, not a PPO of any kind. You also can't choose what company you use for Medi-Cal, so you're boxed into Kaiser HMO. Like anything government-run, dealing with them directly is a bureaucratic nightmare.
After I used https://www.healthforcalifornia.com/ - they did everything for me and you choose your plan. Straightforward.
Let me know if there is a different way. This is so fun :D
