I lived in DTLA for about 2 years & while I was there I ended up getting a couple of parking tickets for the parking meters. I couldn't pay them as I barely had enough for rent and groceries so they kept piling on. The tickets ended up growing to about $1400 with the late fees. A couple of months ago the vehicle got stolen and insurance denied the claim so I'm waiting for it to be auctioned off. I recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy & I'm currently waiting for the discharge but due to the tickets being a government fine their not eligible to be discharged. What can LA realistically do now that I don't own the car or soon won't own it? From what I've read all the consequences are tied to the car. I also read that they can no longer suspend licenses for unpaid parking tickets.
