I’m visiting LA for the first time, mainly to see a show near the Disney Concert Hall, but that’s in the evening and I have about seven hours to kill between settling in and heading over. I’m staying close to LAX, and I thought maybe I’d do the tourist thing and hop on one of those bus tours — a two hour one just to keep it simple. If I had time, hop over to the original farmer’s market and window shop.
Really, I just wanted to get a view of the Hollywood sign without the hike, just to say I saw it. I figured I would Lyft/Uber from the hotel to the tour, then use the bus to get to the market since it’s a straight shot, and again Lyft/Uber to drop off anything I get and then head to the theater. But if the bus tour isn’t worth it, Plan B is just going to the Griffith Observatory instead.
The second day, I planned for Universal so that’s not complicated. I don’t plan on doing much else that day, unless there’s something I can fit in the evening? Then the last day, I don’t need to be at the airport til 4, and I’m a bit of an early bird. Figured I would poke around Little Tokyo until I needed to head back.
I’ve been going back and forth on renting a car, since I’m anxious about driving, and friends have been telling me that ride share prices are high. They’ve also said Texas (I’m familiar driving there) traffic is worse. I still need to look at routes, and if I’m required to go anywhere near that infamous 405, I’ll just spare my nerves and rideshare, but would renting be worth it? I’m also not doing this on a weekend, it’s gonna be weekdays, so I don’t know if that changes anything.
