So I’ve always been curious about this. As a film history buff, I’ve always heard about places back in the day where directors, producers, studio heads, etc. would hang out and people would just get “discovered“. You hear the stories all the time. And Hollywood and LA in general are rife with places that are supposedly historic industry hangouts (The Smokehouse in Studio City, the posh Beverly Hills hotels, and so on.) And yet, growing up in LA, I’ve never actually seen a real example of this. The places you’d expect are usually overrun with wannabe types. Is it simply a thing of the past and everything is way too scattered these days? Or are there still hallowed halls where powerful industry titans tend to congregate? (Come to think of it, I did once have a dinner at Craft in Century City and in the adjoining private dining room was the entire board of directors of Disney, including Bob Iger, so I suppose there’s that :). But yeah, that is the only example I’ve ever seen or heard of in real life.)
Thoughts?
