By that, I mean is anyone *actually* hiring? Not just reposting job openings on LinkedIn, indeed, zip recruiter...etc. without ever getting around to responding. I have a public health degree from an elite university and years of leadership and operations management experience in pharmacy/healthcare with an impressive resume for my age. I've been searching for a job in my field or otherwise for over nine months.
Now I'm getting behind on my rent and my landlord is pushing for eviction, so I've switched to looking for any kind of employment. I've applied to fast food restaurants, tire change places, dog walking services and can't even get a response or rejection. I've walked the streets around my apartment (Echo Park area) asking if businesses are hiring and nobody is.
I know I'm not the only one struggling with this and I'm getting desperate, so any advice would be very much appreciated.
Note: My car is in need of repair and I don't have a CA driver's license yet, so the UberEats/driving service jobs people usually suggest aren't an option at the moment.
