Hey folks, actually I'm helping a photographer friend who doesn't use reddit. He's been scouting all over for an area to shoot a car with the following criteria:
-appx 100-500 feet between photographer and subject - he's using a telescoping lens for a certain effect.
-Objects / scenery with a great variety of distances within a small frame ....for example the parked car, a building in the background, and then some mountains in the far background.
The closest types of locations he's found has been utilizing parking structures. Where the car is parked lower or ground level and the camera position is on the garage top level looking down at it from some distance. Another area that was close but not quite it was Universal City Overlook area / Mulholland Dr - too many fences, too much traffic/activity, but the elevation helped, although there were relatively few unobstructed views into distance other than the marked observation points.
Does anyone know of some areas where you could shoot a parked or driving car with a deep background showing the variety of the LA area landscape within a single frame- urban buildings, mountains, forest, beach? I'm thinking hilly areas would work best - where there's unobstructed views of one road from another of different elevations.
