Sunsetter awning owners. If someone's main concern is shade and cooling a spot in their backyard in the SFV, do the awning has a big advantage over a regular canvas shade?

Post Body

Hi all. I live in the west valley and my backyard without shade got in the 100s because of the concrete I have in my backyard. So I looked into sunsetter but it's pretty pricey. So before I commited I did an experiment, bought shade fabirc (Homedepot) and covered the area in our backyard we usually sit. The shaded area was still unpleasant (even when I doubled up) and sometimes reached 98. HIgh 80s low 90s would be idea. But if the heat just overpowers the shade is this a lost cause?

Is the better quality fabric of Sunsetter going to be a remarkable difference and worth the money? Or is putting up ANY awning in this type of heat in a paved backyard is useless?
