2 afternoons in LA to get a feel for the city?

Due to a work trip/conference I have 2 afternoons to appreciate the city. Is this plan do-able? I have a rental car

Day 1 (arrive 4pm assuming exit & car process is 2 hrs)

6pm drive to Santa Monica Pier and enjoy that area

Day 2 Conference is in Long beach finishing around 3pm

4pm drive to Griffith Observatory for some photos Drive to Lake Hollywood to see Hollywood sign Drive and park around Walk of fame Drive and park to Beverly Hills area

Need to be finished by aprox 23:00

Is this too sporty or too light? Any other suggestion?
