I (22F) am planning on being in DTLA for a concert in May/June. I'm on a budget and walking is how I'll be commuting. My hotel is near the venue which is around W 8th St and S Broadway and is about a 5-10 minutes walk. The show starts at 8pm, I'm not sure how long it'll be (maybe 2 hours), would it be safe for me to walk back during that time or is it best for me to just Uber back. I also plan on seeing Little Tokyo in the morning which is about a 40 minutes walk. I also plan on seeing the Bradbury building, grand central, angels flight railway, the broad, the central library, and the last bookstore since those are also near where I'm staying. Again about 5-10 minutes walk. I'm not from California and want to hear opinions especially with all the homelessness and Skid Row nearby.
Also any information about LAX flyaway would be greatly appreciated! My plan upon arrival is to take the bus from LAX to union station. I want to save as much money as I can by walking, but from union station to my hotel is about an hour walk and if I'm calculating my timing right, I would be at union station around 4pm-5pm, will an hour walk to my hotel be too dangerous? I only plan on having a backpack with me, no other luggage. Or should I just Uber from union station to my hotel. Vise versa. When I leave back to LAX, I was planning on waking up early and checking out at 9am and walk to union station then take the bus back to the airport. Or should I just Uber to union station then take the bus back to the airport? Orrrrr just Uber straight from my hotel to LAX? What would be the safest/cheapest option for me? I'm not too familiar about metro transit or anything so I would like some information.
