So I'm a renter, and unfortunately probably will be for life, so I really don't have a dog in this fight but I'm very curious if anyone that owns a home/condo actually wants more density in their neighborhood. Pretty much everyday, usually multiple times a day someone here posts how we need more density but the NIMBYs don't allow it because it will lower their property values.
I feel like if I wear a homeowner, I definitely would not want higher density in my neighborhood, And I can't really understand why that's such a bad thing. If I own a single family home in a nice neighborhood, what benefit is there for me having a few hundred or thousand extra people move in? More traffic, more trash, less space, etc. If you're a YIMBY and also happen to be a homeowner, maybe you can shed some light on what it is I'm missing.
