Morning London,
I'm just looking for some advice on finding a good/casual place to eat and have a drink before an event at the O2 next month.
Firstly, for context, I have lived in/around London for a decent amount of time previously, so I am comfortable moving around the city and I'm not intimidated by this at all.
However, next month I'm attending an event at "The O2" with my in-laws. They are from USA and are a) less mobile due to age and b) less confident/comfortable with the "stresses" of navigating the tube.
We're staying around Limehouse DLR ... therefore I see that the three simple options are to eat either
a) around Limehouse
b) at Canary Wharf/Canning Town where we will switch from the DLR to Jubilee
c) around North Greenwich
Personally I'm struggling to find anything that seems to fit the bill around A, B, C. Then the slightly more onerus (but maybe better options are):
d) in/around Stratford, where we can easily transit to the O2 after eating
e) in/around Westminister where we can do a litle bit of sightseeing, dinner and then easily transit to the O2
I'm open to any suggestions in/around those areas (or anything else plausible) ... ideally it would:
- Be reasonably unpretentious (we want to just have a few drinks and some food to 'warm up' for the event)
- Involve minimal number of tube swaps, accepting we will need to swap at least once (i.e. I'd rather sit on a tube for 20 mins, rather than navigate them through 4 line swaps)
- Ideally a limited walk from the nearest tube stop, as my MIL struggles to walk longer distances. My preference would be for a nice pub, that does decent food and where we can pre-book a table.
We will have plenty of time to get to where we're going, as we will be at our hotel around 3pm-ish
Any recommendations are much appreciated.
