I was in London in 2013 for a short trip, and I ate dinner at an Italian restaurant that I can't remember for the life of me! There's a chance it has closed since then, but I remember it being packed. I'm pretty confident it was in Central London near Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square. It was on a corner, I think there were round tables with red checkered table cloths, and it had kind of a family vibe (not too upscale but not a hole in the wall, either.) I remember walking through a big pedestrian area to get there, which might have been Leicester Square.
