I know. Stupid question. My proposal has been accepted at a 'fairly decent' university and I have had the opportunity to speak with my future supervisor and the research advisor, both of whom have been incredibly nice and interested in what I'm planning to work on. But the kind of person I am (suffering from a supreme lack of confidence) makes me just keep questioning my decisions over and over again. I know, not a good quality to have in a researcher, I'm working on it. I mostly see this question crop up regarding STEM programs, but almost never when it comes to the humanities.
So, does the ranking of a university (QS, THE and the like) matter when it comes to pursuing a PhD? Moreover, will it make a huge difference when I apply to academic jobs down the line?
My sincerest apologies if this question irritates anyone.
Take care during these uncertain times, fellow readers.
