Which version of the bible should I read?
Post Body

I'm interested in reading the Bible as a work of literature. I'm particularly fond of writers like Cormac Mcarthy, Melville, and, of course Shakespeare, so I'm looking for a version of the bible that has that really old and archaic prose style to it, where it's evident where these writers took their style from. I know that Shakespeare read the Geneva and the Bishop's bible, so how do they compare to the King James or New King James versions? Are there any other obscure versions that are signifant?

Thanks.
