IL - Employer is creating policy to not accept consular IDs at our business yet state law dictates they must be accepted as ID. Is this legal?

Post Body

As the title says, my employer is changing our acceptable ID policy. Currently the business is a 21 and older establishment and you must show appropriate ID to enter. Our state regulator’s website says consular ID’s are acceptable and there is a state law from 2006 that says consular IDs shall be accepted anywhere normal IDs are accepted. I feel like my company is choosing to discriminate here and my concerns have fallen on deaf ears. Am I wrong? Is there merit to any of what I’m saying or am I completely wrong? Just wondering if I should escalate this or leave it alone. Thanks in advance!
