I want to stay vague here, but I am a mid-level engineer at a big company in the USA.
I was made aware today that an upper-level manager and their boss may have done something that I feel is completely unethical and has implications for the reputation of the business.
I do not have the details to say whether any laws were broken, but I do think it is possible given what I know. At the very least, I am not okay with the ethics, even if laws were not broken.
This issue does not directly involve me. I would be sticking out my neck to blow the whistle. I want to avoid the possibility of retaliation. I know our company does have an omsbud program.
While I do know the omsbud well and trust them personally, I'm still worried that someone could figure out it was me who reported.
Do I have legal protections if I report this to a company omsbud?
