My (ex)employer has cameras w/ audio in the spa/clinics I was working in, just the main areas, not treatment rooms. I knew they were there, but assumed for liability reasons, i.e. someone falling, getting robbed, etc… She has never talked to me about them nor did I really know if they were working. Personnel comes one day to “set them up”, says he was told to make sure they were working. Apparently she uses them to look back and listen to conversations between her employees. I also used my phone a few times to text as I’m there for 8 hours, I do have a family. Well she heard us talk about some personal issues as well as complain about her disrespect of the staff. I decided to leave, but did/does she have a right to do this. I’m in FL. I do not feel that we did anything that would warrant her to “check up on us.”
