So in March, I was checked into a behavioral health hospital for a mental health emergency.
They took all my stuff, including my phone. Typically what security does is to catalogue everything you own and have you sign off on it. My intake was absolutely messed up and my stuff was mixed up and even given to someone else. Luckily I got it back, but when security had me sign off on my belongings list, I let them know that my cellphone was not on the list.
I was there for 6 days and they either could not or would not look for it, and did not find it by my release. I am able to prove that it was there, and they have it on security footage that I had it while I was there.
I spent a total of $899.99 on that phone and it was fully paid off. Not only did they lose my expensive phone, but I even had to buy a new one because of this. They have sent me a settlement agreement stating that they are only going to reimburse $549.99 for the phone due to that being current retail value.
I need to know if I have any possible standing to take this to perhaps a small claims court and get the full amount for my phone, or even full cost of my new phone. (I know that last part is not likely)
Thank You in Advance for any insight
