similarities between Mexico and Japan?

So I've noticed that Japan and Mexico have major similiarites when it comes to how they deal with death in the sense of like how Mexico has Dia De Los Muertos and how you do photos on a shrine and go and decorate the grave site.

Japan also does very similar things.

I'm curious about how these two seemingly different places have such a similar thing.

Did one borrow from another or is it coincidence?
