I know in ancient times, technological progression was slower than molasses and science really didn’t exist but humans have always been curious and wondered what could be. It isn’t a stretch to imagine flying through the air like a bird or living without ever dying. The average person did not see the world change around them in their entire lifetime but nothing prevents them from thinking of what could be.
Da Vinci may be a contender for the first futurist and Robert Boyle with his list of things he wanted to see invented one day and Francis Bacon with his imagined New Atlantis.
However, are there any obscure writings from history where a smart and out of the box person first thought about the future?
