What Writing Point-of-Views were Most Common in Ancient Fiction Novels, Sagas, and Literature?
Post Body

I'm under the impression that since the oral tradition of storytelling was most prevalent for much of human history, their written narratives likewise tended to be told by a 3rd person omniscient narrator, but I could be dead wrong. I'm also curious if the use of limited 3rd person POV was used such as it is in many contemporary novels, and if not, when that style was innovated.
