There is a generaly view that in the second world war the British Army was a slow, plodding and unimaginative army compared to the far superior and dymamic German Army. This view is common among historians such as Max Hastings. I read a book which concentrates on the performance of the British Army from the Normandy landings until the German surrender which argues the performance of the British Army had been unfairfly maligned and gave examples of how the British were able to adapt and innovate and were strong in areas such as logistics, medical care and artillery. What is the view among historians about the performance of the British Army in this conflict?
