Were any of the pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilizations sea-faring?
Post Body

Most of the archaeological sites that I am familiar with are inland, but looking at maps I can see that there are some centers that are not far from the coast: La Venta for the Olmecs or Chichen Itza for the Maya for example.

Were any of these cultures sea-faring in any way? If so, what do we know their technology? Do we know what their ocean going vessels looked like? How they navigated? How far did they travel and did they have established trade routes over water as well as over land?

Or did the majority of these peoples simply stick to the land?

**I know pre-Columbian Mesoamerica encompasses both a huge time frame as well as many distinct civilizations. If this question is too broad I apologize and can re-post.
