Were there ink blots on papyrus?
Post Body
I'm writing some pseudohistorical fiction and I want the characters to find a document from ancient Egypt which clearly had a name written in it at some point but has had it concealed/removed. If it made sense for this to be an inscription in stone, I'd have it chiseled out, but I think this has to be papyrus.
Would there have been ink blots or similar on papyrus? Is there something else similar that happened?
