Why are those of the Jewish Faith the victim in a lot of history

I am very curious as to why it is always those of the Jewish faith that are persecuted in history. Slaves in ancient Egypt. The holocaust. It is it because they where simply there? would it have been anyone else if it where not Jewish people? So for example if where Muslims in Germany would they have been the ones put into concentration camps?
