I've explored the reading list, and there is a notable lack of any books between 1815 and the outbreak of WWI. As someone who finds this period incredibly interesting, what are some histories and memoirs of the period you would recommend? I would prefer them to be primarily focused on military affairs or important political moments rather than day to day life, as I seek to fill out the historical context of this era I feel is often overlooked.
Also: is there a better term for this period of history of 1815-1914 that doesn't put such a British emphasis on it? I understand that this is the height of the Pax Brittanica and Britain is the superpower of the day, but a different term that helps me separate the historical period from various other works concerning life in Victorian London would be helpful.
