Was marriage among clergy prohibited by the early English church?
Post Body
Would deacons and priests have been allowed to marry and have wives in the early English church? For context, Bede (possibly) had a wife and I’m curious to know if this is something that would have been allowed at the time or if his mention of a “wife” was a rhetorical device.
