What caused people to emigrate from the Province of Pomerania in the 1850s?

Doing genealogy research, I've run across a group of craftsmen (furriers) who emigrated from Greifenberg Pomerania (now Gryfice Poland) to Norway ca1850. According to Wikipedia, many people left around that time. What would prompt successful craftsmen to leave?
