I work with an ex who continues to try to contact me after a sexual harassment claim, doesn’t think it’s a big deal [PA]

Post Body

I recently had to go to HR because of unwanted physical contact. I verbally expressed to him multiple times that I was uncomfortable with him touching me to which he said, “It shouldn’t make you uncomfortable.”

On top of this, he would continue to try to ask me to hang out outside of work, and in person— he would completely disregard what I had to say, telling me that “You’ll change your mind later, I’ll ask you again tomorrow.” And I had to message him saying that I was not interested and my opinion was not going to change.

He was spoken to by our direct manager and told that he is only allowed to speak with me about business related matters and that he is not permitted to come into our office unless it’s for work reasons.

He continues to text me, just saying “Hi” and small things like that, asking how I am, etc, and I continue to ignore him but it keeps going. I’ve also been told that people believe he might be stalking me, as they’ve seen him show up to work on his days off and just wait out in the parking lot and asking about me, etc. I don’t think anything can be done in particular about that. Is the unwanted messaging something that I need to bring up to HR? Or do I need to ask him to stop messaging me first before I can do so?

I’m not sure how to address the situation because of it already being brought up to HR.

Update: Thank you all for the amazing advice, comments, & support. I have escalated this to HR and will be progressing further per their response.

Regardless, I encourage them to go to the police, at least start a paper trail.
