I was signed up to work in a different city next week, travel and accommodations were provided and will be receiving a daily per diem for food, etc. I got the call yesterday that because of the latest COVID outbreak the number of workers needed has been reduced, so I will not be going now. Then this morning I received the direct deposit for the per diem in my personal account.
I assume that this will need to be payed back, and I will need to reach out to my company to figure out how to do this, but I want to make sure before I do, that this is not counted as income of some sort? I am also part of a union, so maybe that factors into it as well...?
Also, I have been laid off due to no work for the past few weeks, so I have been collecting unemployment. Since I received the money during this week, instead of the week that I would have been working, do I need to claim this as income with EDD? That may be a question for another sub...
This is my first time working out of the city for this company, so not really sure how this all works...
