Hi All,
I graduated college a year ago and soon joined a large non-profit company in a position that was described as a “pipeline” to other areas of the organization.
Since joining, I was adamant on one day joining the “Pizza Team” (substituting the real area for privacy purposes).
In May, a position opened with the Pizza Team! It was a bit more admin-based than I had hoped, but I was definitely drawn to it. Especially when my HR team asked me to apply. So I did.
I had a first round interview that I nailed.
I had a writing assignment that was apparently very impressive to the Pizza Team.
I then had an interview with who would be my manager on the Pizza Team. It was the BEST interview I ever had!
Today, I found out they decided to go with an external candidate with “more experience.”
I get it, but this hurts and it sucks. My resume has been the same since this process started. Everyone was aware of my experience. Why was I strung along for so long? Will I ever join the Pizza Team? What did I do wrong? Will I ever have “enough experience?”
