Past few days, several people have sort of "disappeared" on me. They went to texting me regularly or showing interest in general, to suddenly sending one or two word texts (or none at all!). One guy stopped responding in the middle of making plans to have a fun day out.
I'm not dating or hooking up, so this was unexpected, especially to all happen within 24 hours of each other! These guys ranged from acquaintances (who I hoped would become friends) to some people I've known for years.
I've been guilty in the past of trying to let someone "get the hint" by being unavailable, but I don't remember being this flakey with texts or calls or outright ghosting guys. I'm happily partnered, so I always know I have someone to come home to, but it still hurts and hurts more than I expected it to. I'm a nice guy and I thought they were pretty nice as well.
Am I missing something? Is this normal even when dating or sex isn't involved? Have you done this before? What was your reason?
