Sometimes reading threads here, it's hard not to compare myself to redditors in this sub who are successful professionally, good with money, and generally settled in life. The main issues here seem to be social. Same thing in my personal life. So many gay men on social media or in my area (NYC) are doing well for themselves.
I was wondering if there are any other "gay bros" over 30 who grew up in poor neighborhoods or with low income families. I have to remind myself that I've come a long way and that it's easier for someone with two college educated parents, or a middle-class or upper-class background to find stability and success.
For those who did come from the lower socio-economic spectrum, how has that affected you in life? As a gay male from youth to now. Do you ever feel self-conscious? Had difficulty coming out?
