Anyone else watching Funny Woman (the British sitcom, on PBS in the US)?
Post Body

It’s a British sitcom with a couple of LGBT characters that’s been renewed for a second season. It takes place in London in the 1960s, going as far as using 60s style credits.

There’s a Mrs. Maisel plot similarity, in the sense of a woman trying to break into comedy, but as an actress, not a stand up comic. There’s still some of the sexism of the 60s. But it’s also fun seeing how they dance around the issue of homosexuality, since no one can just come out and say “I’m gay”.

As I’ve sometimes said in the past, watch at least 3 episodes, because it often takes that long for a show to hit its stride.

Membership in your local PBS station is cheap, and gets you access to streaming on PBS Passport, which is necessary to watch the full season of this show (and numerous others, past and present).
