Would value experiences from the community on this!
Iāve been letting out my spare room on Mister B&B for a few years. A clean sweep of five star reviews. Itās a private room, shared bathroom, in a modern flat overlooking a park in London (zone 1). Close to everything but quiet, reasonable price, clothing optional. Itās always done pretty well - we are in a very gay area right where the northern line splits so you can be in the west end or city within minutes.
Bookings have REALLY fallen off this year, and I donāt know why. You would struggle to find somewhere with as many good reviews at the price I charge.
Iāve also noticed a lot of enquiries that fizzle out: no explanation, they just donāt complete. Iāve also had my share of people asking about what āclothing optionalā means and an assumption that because youāve rented the room Iāll have sex with you which is just bizarre. Who propositions someone based on a solitary profile pic and zero further information?
I donāt want to list my room on Airbnb because Iād rather only let the room to gay/trans men. But to make it worthwhile, I might not have the choice. I canāt see that thereās even the option to list as LGBT friendly.
Any other hosts feel that there has been a downturn? Any users think Iām being naive and that misterBandB is in fact Grindr with housekeeping? And does anyone REALLY need āclothing optionalā spelling out to them?
