Are STD tests doable with just a urine sample?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, not sure where I would. I go for regular testing and they have always asked for a urine sample and taken blood. This latest time, they took my sample and said they don't need blood drawn which is odd. I'm all clear, but kinda confused - did they do a minimal test that maybe doesn't check for everything?
