Games similar to dark souls or Dragon's dogma?

I have been a fan of the souls series since the release of the first dark souls. I recently bought and replayed dragons dogma on pc. I have always like fighting the large, intimidating, challenging bosses you see in these games.
I have been thinking of giving monster hunter a try as i have friends that play it and with generation coming out seems like a good time to get into it, but i want to know if there were any games i might have missed, or might not have thought of
