one of my party members is about to get a very important item soon regarding another now-retired character. this party member ( a sorcerer) had to retire from adventuring with the party because they sacrificed their ability to cast magic (at level 8) to delay the BBEG by 5 years. the other party member (cleric/rouge) set a goal to get that magic back to them and I want to make an item to make that directly possible without making it an arbitrary plot device item. I want it to be useful in other potential situations as well. I have no idea how to make this though. most of the magic items I've made have been pretty simple and I need help. any advice would be helpful. I want to run with the magic stealing/absorbing theme. for example, something like spells being absorbed and nullified once a day and as an action that spell can be cast from the item. I also don't know what to make the item itself.
