So, before I present my issue, I need to give some context:
Number one, my world is peppered with colossal crystal leygates, pillars of crystal the come up out of the earth and extend infinitely high into the sky. The purpose of the leygates is to hold the leylines that make up the world and that allow for the existence of magic in place. They are nigh indestructible and unaffectible by any known means. Number two, the character in question is a heavens oracle. Oracles in my world get their power from the Great Turtles, five beings that came from the beyond to create the plane using a power called the Chant of Creation, basically a language that when spoken correctly allows one to alter reality based upon the meaning of the words. Every oracle has a single word from the Chant of Creation ingrained in their mind somewhere, and my player's particular word was "Focus". I have specific mechanics on what happens when one attempts to use a word, basically a linguistics check is needed to interpret it, and if your interpretation is successful you must make a fortitude save equal to your amount of success or there is some sort of backlash.
Anyway, my player was trying to get some information regarding to the nature of the leylines and how they related to the stars, and told me she wished to meditate on the voice that sometimes tells her to focus (she both in and out of game had no idea what the voice actually was). I have her roll linguistics to attempt to listen to and interpret the word to help her focus on the world around her. She gets a natural 20. I have her roll again, another natural 20. Once more, and she gets a 19 ( 3 from her skill bonus). The Chant of Creation works cumulatively, so she got a total of 62. Since the roll was successful, I have her roll a fortitude save on the backlash of the word, the DC being 62, which she failed. When the party found her in her room later, she was completely catatonic, staring at the wall in a vegetative state, her eyes severely clouded over. When they did detect magic they found that she was drawing energy through her body from the land around her, just like a leygate. (A side note, a third natural 20 would have been permanent character loss as her character learned everything about the nature of the plane and ascended to godhood).
So my issue is...what sort of options should the party have to go about fixing this? The player that controlled this character is bringing in a temporary character until this issue gets resolved (and she is completely fine with doing so), but I am at a loss as to what kind of tasks I can give them to try to get their oracle back. They are a level 7 party, playing Pathfinder 1st edition.
