Should a Wizard Subclass Savant work here?
Post Body

My character is a necromancer wizard and since we were not finding any spell books or any spell sources, my character was allowed to seek out a necromancer who would be willing to teach him spells. The DM decided that my character would not be given the discounted price specified in my Necromancy Savant subclass feature and I was instead just given a flat 15g off of the total price of learning the spell at the base rate of 50gp×spell level. So a level 3 spell costed 135gp and a level 2 was 85.

One of the other players chose to second this decision after reading the feature from the players handbook stating that it was only for copying spells into my spell book and because spell books are the normal way for wizards to learn new spells aside from leveling up.

My argument was that any wizard teaching another wizard spells would surely want to make a profit, but it would be far easier to teach a Savant of your specialization.
