Please help me understand: as an American very interested in French history (my state was once owned by France) I am curious as to where the culture of mass protest started from in France? Of course, it is easy to become aware that the French protest often, but where did this begin? Does it work well?

I would go out to assume to say that as children, we are taught about famous protestors such as Malcom X and Martin Luther King Jr., of course also famous protests like the those during our civil rights movement, and, the onsets of our revolution, which France helped us win. However, my premise is that we are not taught at a youth to do things like this. Yes they have inspired and changed our country when they happened, but I think parents are teachers affiliated protests with crime and disobedience and therefore do not instill us to do that. I would love to hear the French insight on if this is different.

Furthermore, how does France contain both communist party politicians and also faccist right wingers? Is there a lot of polarity?
