Historic alternatives to hops
Post Body
I am aware of the old world legal to new world traditional journey of hops becoming the beer flavor of choice.
I am curious though as to the other flavoring that were common in pilsners prior to the Rhineland convention that reduced pilsner flavorings to only hops.
Obviously, a 'pilsner' would use a different ingredients list region to region, and household to household. I am interested in the full range of traditional options that became supplanted by hops.
