This is something I've been thinking about for a while but I see this constantly on social media. When there is a post of a woman doing something creepy to a man, such as catcalling or coming on too strong/stalkerish behaviour; the entire comment section lights on fire talking about "could you imagine the hate they would get if the roles were reversed" to the point where it just seems silly because the woman is being shamed and shit on for valid reasons (being a creep) by everyone in the comments.
I guess what I'm trying to articulate is that a lot of men have it in their head that women never have to face scrutiny for things that men typically do that are frowned upon when it seems like that is not the case at all. Everyone seems to rush to criticize the woman and do this role reversal bs.
For an example, there is a video of a woman pushing her male partner unprovoked, half the comments are calling her an abuser and the other half are like 'can you imagine if a man did this, everyone would call him and abuser and lose their minds' when that is what already happens to women, sometimes to a higher degree because it feels like we are held to some higher standard that if we don't adhere to it the amount of backlash we recieve is staggering compared to what I see with men.
Has anyone else noticed this? Or is this the kind of phenomenon that only occurs in some parts of the internet?
