With the rise of the "trad wife" and "hard wig-soft life" trends on social media, I'm wondering if these ideas are based on internalized misogyny.
For context, I'm a man who grew up in a very patriarchal country where a woman's worth is often tied to who she marries. Because of this, many women lack agency and choose to marry wealthy men, even if their wealth comes from unethical or illegal activities, or if the men are known to be unfaithful or abusive.
Now that I live in a more modern, Western country with better opportunities for women, I still see women choosing these kinds of men. Can someone explain why this happens?
