I just read this article, and it was interesting. According to the lesbian author, he brought about his own demise by suing someone for libel, who was actually saying the truth that he was homosexual. And he, like many other upper class gay men back then, sexually exploited underclass teenage boys. So she argues that lesbian-feminist support for him is unwarranted.
It's a new perspective to me because Oscar Wilde is still broadly considered as a gay icon and victim. What do you think about this topic?
