We in Croatia have the matura exam for about 10 years now and I gotta say that the system really works in the means that getting into college is now really fair and square. Pretty much you must pass Croatian (Higher or lower level), Math (Higher or lower level) and English (Higher or lower level) and possibly other subjects if the college insists on it. Really interested in hearing how it works in other European countries. Only Croatian, Math and English have higher and lower levels, all other optional subjects are on the higher level.
