Is it feasible to combine different electricity generation technologies to get better efficiencies out of thermal to electrical energy conversion?
E.g.: magnetic/brushless/no moving parts-style heat engines or steam generators with thermophotovoltaic linings to capture as much energy as possible.
Is this already being done? Or are losses in efficiency, contamination, cost etc likely to be outweighed and we are better off ensuring each type of energy to electricity type is in isolation and as efficient as possible?
