I'm a chemistry student, with 4 years of home chemistry experience, and I have just now recently become interested in building an NMR machine if it's possible! I have some questions that google doesn't seem to have answers to, that if they were answered maybe I could crack this code.

What is a tuning and matching circuit? Apparently I must connect my RF coils to it, but when I search this up there is no explicit answer.

Also, if anyone is able to take a look at some circuits at this website, http://www.conspiracyoflight.com/NMR/NMR.html and in laymen's terms elaborate on what exactly is the circuits are doing, I will gladly compensate you for your time.
